Workflow · Step 05 · Result validation

Independent verification. Controlled review.

Configure colony count verification to match your procedures, manage discrepancies through recount requests and close sampling sessions with attributable electronic signatures.

01 — INDEPENDENT VERIFICATION

A different operator checks the count.

When verification is enabled, an authorized operator other than the original reader checks the CFU result on an online PDA. The operator can confirm the result or request a recount when the counts differ. Verification status and recount requests remain available for review in a dedicated register.

First reading

The original reader records the colony count against the sample.

02 — VERIFICATION SETTINGS

Define which results require a check.

Configure verification for all results, positive results or zero results. Selective verification is also available, or the function can be disabled according to site procedures. The selected setting determines which checks are required before session closure.

0 of 12 results go to a second operator. No second count is requested. The reading stands on the first operator alone — and the audit trail still says who that was.

03 — SESSION CLOSURE AND APPROVAL

Separate count verification from signed review.

Count verification checks the CFU result. Session closure and approval document the review of the monitoring activity through distinct electronic signatures.

Operator A

Count

Record the CFU result against the sample and its applicable limits.

Operator B

Verification

Where required by the configuration, a different operator verifies the count and discrepancies are managed through the recount workflow.

Signature 1

Closure

An authorized user closes the session with an electronic signature. Results become available for reporting, statistics and trending. Session data is protected from further editing, with specific provisions for subsequent microbial identification entries.

Signature 2

Approval

Where required by site procedures, a different authorized user adds an approval signature after closure. The same account cannot both close and approve the session.

04 — CONTROLLED CHANGES

Changes to signed records follow a controlled process.

Changes to protected session data require cancellation of the relevant signatures before the record can be edited. Each signature can be cancelled by its signatory or by a BioAdmin acting on their behalf. If both signatures are present, approval is cancelled before closure. Changes require a recorded reason and are retained in the audit trail.

Where missing results or unavailable samples prevent completion of required checks, the system requires a specific justification before permitting signature in the supported exception cases.

05 — ADVANCED REVIEW

Review individually. Sign together.

Review multiple sampling sessions in one continuous workflow, selecting each session after examination. At the end, apply closure or approval signatures to the selected sessions with a single entry of credentials. Each session retains its own signature record.

What happens next

From signed review to reporting and trends.

Once the closing signature is applied, results become available for reports, statistics and trend analysis.
